Profile of Badabetara

Badabetara, a picturesque village near river Chitrotpala,is a branch of River Mahanadi. The village belongs to Garadpur block of Kendrapara district in the state of Orissa with village Bharigola on the North & Naganpur on the South. The village is situated just 10 km away from Asureswar bus stop on Cuttack Kendrapara Road.
The name Badabetara has an interesting historical origin associated with Boita (indigenous boat). In the remote past people were trading around the place by the indigenous boat through a near extinct river presently known as Bagi jora. The workers then engaged in handling trade materials called Boitaras started living in the area. Therefore this habitation came to be known as Bada Boitara which gradually mis-pronounced as Badabetara, the present name.
